Design Build
When municipal water is not available for your proposed subdivision, ITC will work with your hydrologist and civil engineer to create a private water system to meet the needs of the project. Starting at the wellhead, we will design a complete system including storage, disinfection, treatment if needed, and booster pumping to meet potable, irrigation, and fire flow requirements. We will process your plans through the State of Hawaii’s Department of health Safe Drinking Water Branch (SDWB). Integral with this effort is the preparation of Pre-construction and Startup Capacity Reports, which are required to receive approval to first construct, and then operate the system. Very small private water systems are exempt from DOH regulation; we can help you get confirmation from DOH if regulation is not required to lawfully build and operate your system. Many of these systems are dual water systems, providing potable water for domestic use and non-potable water for irrigation and other uses. Depending on the specifics of the project, fire protection could come from either or both systems.
ITC Water Management, Inc. has designed and/or master planned many thousands of acres of non-potable and agricultural irrigation systems. These large-scale systems can incorporate both surface and groundwater sources, central filtration (in the case of surface water), booster pumping if necessary, and SCADA systems to facilitate efficient, cost-effective operation.
ITC can design your next project, either as a conventional design, bid, and construct project or as a design-build project. ITC prides itself providing clients with straightforward engineering solutions that deliver the desired results with due consideration to initial cost and on-going operating and maintenance costs. Whether conventional design or design-build, both approaches have merit. In some cases, preparing full plans and specifications and obtaining competitive bids is the best method to achieve the owner’s needs. In many cases, the design-build approach can provide the owner with a predictable cost, quicker delivery of the finished project, and most importantly, a lower total installed cost. When deadlines and budgets are critical, the design-build process lets you be in control.
